Gabe is a clinician and inventor with 17 years of clinical experience in anesthesia and airway management, and the founder and CEO of IVOS Medical. A practicing nurse anesthetist at UCI Medical Center, he took an unconventional route to entrepreneurship. He served as Assistant Director of the USC Department of Anesthesiology’s simulation program, built mobile apps, and self-published a children’s book, each project adding to an unexpected skill set. After observing that video laryngoscopes fail when the camera is fouled by blood or secretions, Gabe founded IVOS Medical to solve it. He is a named patent holder in the US and internationally, has been awarded over $2M in NIH SBIR grants, and his work has been featured at national medical meetings, including the American Association of Nurse Anesthesiology and the American College of Emergency Physicians. He serves as an NIH grant reviewer and a UCI Innovation Ambassador, and describes himself as an airway enthusiast.
